Join Debby Schuh at Scrapdoodles this August!

We are excited to announce that Debby Schuh will be coming to Scrapdoodles to teach 3 amazing classes featuring October Afternoon, Tim Holtz Idea-ology, 7 Gypsies, Maggie Holmes, BasicGrey, Ranger, and lots of fun techniques.

Debby is a collector – from the time she was a little girl, she has collected the bits and pieces of her life and stored them away in albums and boxes and all kinds of creative projects. Preserving the photos, memorabilia, and stories of life is the motivation behind her inspiring classes. Teaching innovative techniques with paper and a wide assortment products and including lots of design details and meaningful themes, Debby has inspired students all over the world to record their lives and take the techniques that she teaches and adapt them to their other craft projects.

Debby’s years as a school teacher and as a teacher, designer, and author in the scrapbook industry have lead to an exciting, busy career teaching classes at stores and events in the US and other countries around the world.

Buffalo, New York, is Debby’s hometown where she lives with her husband, who is her chief box-packer and shipper and cheerleader. Their two sons are now married and living on opposite sides of the US… she misses them every day but they make their mom very proud!

You can read more about Debby’s classes and adventures on her blog at debbyschuh.typepad.com.

Time: 6pm-9pm
Fee: $60*

Life is an adventure – whether traveling far from home… or venturing out on a road trip… or enjoying getaway time with girlfriends, there are so many stories to tell with the photos and “stuff” you collect along the way. This adorable 7” x 8 ½” album using the new Travel Girl collection from October Afternoon features their versatile new Daily Flash page protector assortment for a modular “daily life” approach to documenting your adventure.

Along with making our own canvas-edged album, we’ll make fold-outs and pockets and lots of pages for our book as well as explore ideas for using divided page protectors in fun ways to add more photos to your album. With a mix of whimsy and vintage design elements, you’ll have lots of creative opportunities for customizing your book and plenty of leftover products in your kit to use as you complete your album with your photos and mementos.

Student supply list:
Please bring the following items to class: 12” paper trimmer, pencil, ruler, scissors, Crop A Dile, strong tape adhesive (I like Scor-Pal tape), regular tape runner, glue dots, foam squares, scallop scissors, scoring tool, stapler.

Memory Collector Class

Date: Saturday, August 17
Time: 10am-1pm
Fee: $70*

We are all “collectors of memories” and “dreamers of dreams,” aren’t we? In this delightful class Debby will show you step by step how to transform Tim Holtz’s new Configuration Book into a darling “suitcase” where you can keep treasured mementos and record the stories of the special moments that you want to remember.

Your kit will contain a variety of papers to customize the look of your 12” x 9” suitcase. The sample shows a vibrant color choice in the lively “Liberty” fabric style, but there are other prints in your kit to choose from that are more subdued, if that is your preference. Inside your suitcase, the choices are practically limitless! You can customize the arrangement of the boxes inside your case, personalize the trinkets you place in each section, and choose the papers that you will feature in the removable album we’ll make for inside our case. We will even make a second darling little album out of windowed envelopes – it’s so cute! Each will person receive a full 10 yard roll of washi tape to frame the edges of your case as well as other products from the Maggie Holmes collection from American Crafts, the Basic Grey Mint Julep collection, and more from 9 different companies.

Little Me Journal Album

Date: Saturday, August 17
Time: 2pm-5pm
Fee: $60*

If you could go back in time and give advice to the little girl you once were, what would you tell her? What stories from your life would help her know that things were going to be all right in the end (and if it’s not all right, then it’s not the end – love that line from The Best Marigold Hotel movie!) What advice would you give her? What insights could you share? This nostalgic little journal will be a special place to keep those thoughts and stories.

Using a Tim Holtz Worn Book cover and ring binder with the gorgeous Trousseau Collection from 7gypsies, we’ll make pages and pockets and even our own vintage-looking papers to fill our 4” x 7” journals. A photo of you as a little girl will be featured on the cover of your book and will remind you to appreciate the woman you have become.

Of course, the album can be used for anything you’d like – It would make a lovely wedding album or any pretty pictures you’d like to use. It would also be a perfect gift for someone special!

Student Supply List:
Please bring the following items to class… 12” paper trimmer, pencil, ruler, scoring tool, scissors, strong tape adhesive, regular tape runner adhesive, Crop a Dile, Distress Ink – Vintage Photo, ink blending tool, non-stick craft mat, sanding tool, a special small button – about ½” or less - if you have one - to use on the front cover of the album, a picture of yourself as a child for the oval frame opening which is 1 ½” x 2 ½” (other pictures will be available to use), foam squares, Glossy Accents or glue dots, scallop scissors or border punch.

*Please note that due to the advance preparation of the kits, shipping and traveling of the instructor there are no refunds. If you are unable to make the class, a kit will be provided for you.
