Cards with Dawn

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.  With Christmas over it is time to start thinking about love and Valentine's day.  January's class will be pretty clean and simple but we will be focusing on a couple of techniques that perhaps might be new to you.  Do you love your distress inks but look for different ways to use them?  Well, I have a fun technique that uses your distress ink pads along with background stamps.  It is super fun and super easy!!

We will also be playing with embossing paste and stencils.  Another fun technique and a great way to use all those stencils that you own and perhaps are looking for something different to do with them.  Again, it is an easy technique, but adds a lovely touch of dimension.

As always, if the sentiments that I use on the cards don't work for you, feel free to change them.  I always have a couple of different ones to choose from!

Come join me on the date that works best for you.
Tuesday January 7th @ 10.30 am
Wednesday January 8th @ 10.30 am
Saturday January 11th @ 10.30 am

Here are a couple of sneaks of the cards that we will be making.

Design Team Wednesday - December Daily

Are you working on a December Daily album this year?  This will be my 4th exclusively December themed mini album.  I've used a different approach each year and this year decided to go with an Snap! 6x8 binder in red from Simple Stories.  I've been using the Simple Stories December Documented as well as a few different Christmas collections (who can choose just one???).  For the front of my album I used the bingo grid paper from Echo Park's Reflections Christmas collection, a tag from Echo Park's 'Tis the Season collection, and twine and chipboard from some older stash.  I typically keep all my Christmas and Holiday themed supplies together, so it makes it easy to pull out pieces that coordinate well.  It's also nice to be able to use up bits and pieces from previous years' collections and pull from that older stash.
Truthfully, I haven't been very good this year at keeping up on a daily basis, so I'm pretty far behind.  No worries, though.  I keep taking photos and journal a bit here and there and even if it's after Christmas, my album will get done.  I am motivated by the thought of having a mini album for each year that's so fun to pull out at Christmas and look through to relive the memories of Christmases past.

Karen's Tips for December Daily:
1. Start with a pre-made album (I really like the Snap Binder, I've also used the Fancy Pants brag book - part of Scrapdoodles 12 Days of Christmas deals!).  This will make it easy to get started.  If you're looking for super simple pages, try the Snap pocket pages and be sure to stock up on easy "project life" style cards to slip in quickly.  For my album this year I really like the 3x4 Bingo cards made by Simple Stories.  I'm also drawn to the chalkboard style elements that many manufacturers are using - so many to choose from!
3.  Keep your stash of supplies out.  Whether you've purchased all new supplies or are using a mix of new and old, having your supplies in a basket or bin that you can easily pull from will make putting your pages together quicker.  You'll also be inspired by all those pretty supplies!
2. DON'T STRESS! This isn't a project that should stress you out during an already stressful season.  If you get behind, it's not a big deal.  Keep taking your photos, have a set of journaling cards handy that you can jot down a few lines about the photo/activity for each day, and put it with your stash of supplies.  Typically, I've printed out my pics for the whole week and kept up more on a weekly basis rather than a daily basis.  Do what works for you and your schedule.

Here's a few of my completed pages.  Sorry, you won't see my album at the store - it's a work in progress!

Design Team Wednesday - Graphic 45

Hello Scrapdoodlers!!
"It's the most wonderful time of the year..." The bird has been cooked and the holiday season is in full swing!  I've been dressing up the house, and have a little home decor project to share with you today.
I used Graphic 45's holiday collection, Twelve Days of Christmas.  I used the 12x12 papers and the Die-cut flower collection that coordinates with the paper.

The pre-cut flowers were a real time saver, and come is shapes that I don't have dies for.
Plus, they're so pretty!

Hope you can stop by the store and check it out! This paper collection is fun to work with, and lends itself well to a variety of projects. From lay-outs to cards to home decor... whatever you make, it will look beautiful and festive.  Hope your holidays are merry!
Thanks for stopping by!
Yvonne

Kids Class - Gift Card Cards for Teachers

The winter holidays are the perfect time to settle down to some good kids crafts: the days are short, the cold discourages playing outside, crafting will keep your kids busy and take away some of their impatience and excitement while they wait for Christmas Day to arrive, and what better way to share the holiday spirit than a few homemade cards for the teacher or Grandma or Grandpa?

During this 20-30 minute long class, my 7 year old helper elf and I will help your child create these 3 simple yet lovely ways of presenting gift cards for those special people during the Christmas season. The bulk of the product used come from Allison Kreft Designs "It's Christmas" collection (for Webster's Pages) and Core'dinations cardstock.

I have pre-cut most of the elements for the children so that they can focus on the fun!! Decorate a gingerbread man, help Santa get dressed and hang the holly!

Come on over to Scrapdoodles and let your children send a few times being crafty! They might just learn a thing or two to teach you!

Kids Christmas Class - Hexagon Exploding Box

Hi Everyone!  Its Rachael back with another kids class.  I am always excited to make one-of-a-kind gifts for the important people in my life.  I have passed that love on to my kids, so they are super excited to make a gift for their teachers this year.  We will be making a  Hexagon exploding box.

I am in love with exploding boxes because they can be modified in so many ways, and I love the unique hexagon shape of this box.  This project would make the perfect gift for teachers, grandparents, and friends.

I hope you can join me on Sunday, December 15th from 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.  Cost is $14 per student.  Kits are available if you are unable to attend on the 15th.  Please bring at least 6 pictures that are 2 inches x 2 inches in size, and some adhesive.
