Design Team Wednesday

Happy Wednesday, Scrapdoodles fans! So much exciting new stuff is arriving these days that it's hard to decide what to use first. Echo Park's Wintertime line was perfect for this photo of my son's first ski trip. The Silhouette made it easy to cut assorted shapes and sizes of snowflakes from patterned paper, cardstock, and America Crafts Pow! glitter paper. The large title word was also cut from the glitter paper, and the script from Silhouette's self-adhesive cardstock, which takes the fuss out of adhering intricate diecuts. Before gluing anything down, I sprinkled a few drops of silver Maya Mist on my white cardstock.

This two-page spread features Echo Park's newest line, This & That, which will be arriving at Scrapdoodles any day. It's designed to be a boy theme (there's a girl colorway as well), but I think the colors work great for camping as well. The buttons, from October Afternoon's Sasparilla line, are layered onto Martha Stewart punches. The arrow was cut using my Silhouette, which I use so much more than I ever expected I would. You can click on the photo below to see the layout larger.

I hope the rest of your week is enjoyable, and that you get some time to create something!

Design Team Wednesday by Tiffany

Good Morning All,
I wanted to share some of my creations this week. My first design is a layout. I was so excited to use Jillibean Soup because the papers are so versatile.  You can intermingle the lines because they all match in one way or another.  I used border punches to create my own lace on the paper.  I chose the  paper to highlight a picture of my Chloe Baby when she was only a few weeks old, but the paper could be used for school days, family, girls, and spring. Wherever your creativity takes you!!!

My next design is with Fancy Pants's "Winterland" and Maya Road's Acrylic Mitten Album.  When I saw the paper line I knew I had to use the mitten album. They went perfect together!!!  Don't be intimated by using acrylic.  It is really easy to use. There are so many things you can do to acrylic.....stamp on it, use glitter glue, paint on it, use rub-ons, and stickers.  the possibilities are endless. So get to creating!!!!

Finally, my last design are cards.  I used all my scraps to create the cards.  I try to create cards as I finish up a project so I use all the scraps I have.  This way I am not storing them, taking up precious storage room or forgetting about them.  Now I have cards for when I need them and don't have to rush to make one at the last minute.  How is that for being efficient and organized?!

I hope I have inspired you all to create and try a few new things.  The projects will be on display at the store.  If you have any questions about the products one of the Scrapdoodles Girls will be able to help you.

Design Team Wednesday

Happy Wednesday!  It's Karen here with this week's Design Team post and I am highlighting two beautiful collections.  First up is Authentique's "Gathering" collection.  This collection is so versatile!  The colors (blue, orange/coral, brown) are very trendy right now and lend well to layouts and projects of all types.  I fell in love with the patterned paper called "Flourish" and used it as my background for this hanging memo board.  I kept the board simple - just using a few of the die cut quotes and shapes from the same collection.  I used some felt ric-rac ribbon I found from My Mind's Eye.  Then, I found online and printed a free 2012 mini calendar and cut each month and attached it to a square of patterned paper, punched holes and strung it with string.  Since the back of my board is cork, I attached the calendar pages with a large felt-covered tac.  I also made my own little notepad with graphing paper cut into strips and bound together with ribbon.  There are a few more details of how this project came together on my blog.

Since I had a lot of scraps left over, I made several simple cards.  For these I started with a plain card base and decorated the fronts with paper, ribbon, buttons, and die cuts.

Stop by the store and see these projects in person - and check out this and other collections by Authentique - you'll love them!

I know we've hardly had any snow in the region this year, but there are so many new winter lines in the store, it's hard to pass them up.  Maybe you can catch up scrapping the Big Snow we had a few years ago! One of my favorites is Fancy Pants Designs' "Winterland" collection.  I love the soft colors and subtle patterns.  One of the border strip sheets had a quote "Snowflakes are kisses from heaven" which made me think of the fun my daughter had when it "snowed" back in January.  She kept running around saying it tickled and tasted like frosting!  I knew this was the perfect line for a layout with her sticking out her tongue to catch the snowflakes.  The layout came together easily with a full background sheet, one border and a few of the coordinating heavy-weight stickers.  I added a bit of paper lace I had in my stash and cut out a title using my Cricut.  There's still more "winterland" left and, perhaps, one more snow in Virginia before spring is finally here!  Happy Scrappin' Everyone!

Re-Design! - $35

Instructor - Nicole Samuels
Saturday, Feb. 25
9am-12pm

Sketches can be a fabulous source of inspiration in designing your layouts. They provide an easy starting point for planning out your page elements. However, you don't need a huge library of layout sketches to be a design diva! Just a handful of basic sketches will provide an endless variation of layout ideas. In this fun, fast-paced class, we'll create THREE very different layouts from one simple sketch. You'll learn how to adapt and "re-design" a sketch to better match your style, product selection, and photos. The hardest part of scrapping is often just figuring out where to put everything. This class will give you tools on how to use simple sketches as a quick springboard to fabulous pages.

Supply List:
paper trimmer
scissors
adhesive (wet and dry)
pop dots or adhesive foam
paper piercer
paper needle
border punch (scallop or any other design)
1 inch circle punch (slightly larger or smaller is okay)

A little paint, some mist, a few stitches, and lots of fun details will make this journal a beautiful book in which to record memories and memorabilia. This would also make a fabulous heritage album for documenting your grandparent's love story or a fun newlywed gift for a couple to fill out on their own. It's all about LOVE!

design team wednesday!

 Hi and happy Wednesday!
This is my first design team post ever and i'm super excited (and the teensiest bit nervous!) so stick with me and I'll try to keep the rambling down to a minimum. :)

I used Crate Paper's Paper Heart Collection for these valentine cards and treat cards. I'm not super big on Valentine's Day so this was kind of challenging for me. (I made the mistake of telling my husband I didn't like Valentine's nonsense when we started dating so now I'm stuck!)

My first card uses some patterned paper, a designer diecut, one of the sweet phrase stickers, and some seam binding inked up with Spun Sugar Distress Ink.

This one has some paper, another diecut, one of the border stickers, and some seam binding died with Tattered Rose and Worn Lipstick Distress Ink.

The last card has this yummy text paper, some die cuts, border sticker, and baker's twine.

For the treat cards I cut my paper to 3 1/4" x 6" and scored it with a two inch fold over a treat bag and just stitched it closed. The border strips on the patterned paper worked really well to add a decorative edge with no extra punching or stickers required!

Love the cute little conversation heart diecuts!

Love love love those scrabble tile diecuts!

Crushed Olive might be my absolute favorite Distress Ink color ever.

Well thanks for visiting and have a wonderful day!

supplies: Crate Paper's Paper Heart Collection Pack, Seam Binding, Distress Ink, Baker's Twine, October Afternoon Letter Stickers, EK Success Border Punch, Treat Bags, Candy, and Stitching

Design Team Card Share from Nikki :)

It's my turn to show you some of the fun things I've been making with my new Scrapdoodles' goodies!

For this card I stamped directly on my card base and used dies to make frames to fit around it.  Since I stamped on kraft colored card stock, I used white and pink Prisma pencils to color this sweet bunny image, and blended the pencil lines with Goo Gone.
For this card I colored the flower image with Copics, and cut out the image.  After I attached the button, I attached the flower image to the center of the ribbon knot with 3D glue dots.
For this card, I made a border with the bunny images by attaching them all at once to my stamp base in a row.  I colored them with a combination of Copic markers and Prisma pencils.  I created the sprigs of grass with three different green Copics.
Ingredients: Stamps: We R Memory Keepers {Some Bunny, Flower Power}, Whmsie Doodles {Retired}; Decorative Paper: We R Memory Keepers {Cotton Tail 6 x 6 Pad}; Card Stock: Bazzill Basics; Copics: Grass {G46, YG23, G43}, Flower {RV52, V22, V17, V28, G43}, Bunny Ears/Cheeks {G46}; Buttons: American Crafts; Ink: Pallette {Noir Black}; Other: Ribbon, Twine, Lace.
