Design Team Wednesday - Elizabeth Craft Dies and Pebbles Inc Garden Party

I created this Easter card using two Elizabeth Craft dies, some Core'dinations cardstock and Pebbles Inc's "Garden Party". It's festive, interactive and fully loaded with Spring goodness! And all of it can be found at Scrapdoodles! The Pebbles line is new to the store and is sure to fly off the shelves as it's just perfect for all things Spring!
HappyEasterCard_SuzannaLee
The die that was used to create the card base is a single piece of the accordian that one cuts with repetition. I have a tri-fold card here and thus cut three 'bases"; one in yellow, light blue and then pink. There are fancier dies that you can buy to overlay the base but I went with just trimming down a fourth cut from cardstock and trimming it down for the middle panel. The store carries the overlays, be sure to check them out! The base die also comes in other fun shapes which you can also find at the store.
HappyEasterCard_Close3_SuzannaLee
The flowers shown above were created using another Elizabeth Craft die and a Shimmer Sheetz for the turquoise layer of the flower. All the patterned papers are from the wonderfully Spring-y Pebbles Inc "Garden Party" collection. The Shimmer Sheetz was embossed using an embossing folder with a small texture. I will caution you that they do not cut very well, if at all, using an Evolution, without or without the metal adapter that is available or a shim... Big Shot, no problem, came out dazzling! Just be forewarned about the Evolution with this product.
HappyEasterCard_Close2_SuzannaLee
The third panel is a bit of an Easter egg montage with the Peep bunnies, flowers and oval layers. All wrapped up nicely with a bow!
HappyEasterCard_Close_SuzannaLee
The folds and joins go together very nicely, especially if you use a liquid glue. I made another of these for Core'dinations as home decor that you will see at a future date that I put together with two types of roller application adhesive; they didn't stick as well. I had to go back and apply liquid adhesive. Once you do, there is a nice strong bond that creates a fun interactive and dimenstional card that the whole family is sure to enjoy!

Oh! I almost forgot! You cannot see it and try as I did, I couldn't capture it on film but I used Wink of Stella clear glitter pen on the "Happy Easter" which I stamped. It adds a subtle yet festive holiday "finish" to the sentiment. Be sure to grab one of those for all your final finishing touches!

Design Team Wednesday - Teresa Collins "Save the Date" - Not Just for Weddings!

I so excited to be able to play with more new Teresa Collins collections papers today.  Her "Save the Date" collection is awesome for wedding and engagement, but is not limited to that theme at all.  The addition of the black to the soft colors make it a great pick for boys or girls and lots of different occasions.  These papers also have a thick and wonderful new texture to them.  I was drawn immediately to the bold black striped sheet in the collection and had the perfect photo in mind.  The soft pale pinks and greens really soften the starkness of the bold stripe and the black and white photo.  I think they are perfectly "married" (chuckle chuckle).  I took this photo of my daughter this winter, played with it a bit in Photoshop, and was excited to get it into a scrapbook layout.  Most of the elements like the tags, stickers, and enamel dots are from the Save The Date collection.  I fussy cut the rose bunches from another 12x12 sheet in the collection.  While at Scrapdoodles, I also picked up the gold chipboard starts (Studio Calico) and added them to the layout.

The black and white twine is from my stash.  I love the movement in gives to the bottom of the page while still anchoring the overlapping tags.

Look closely at the photo and you'll notice one of Teresa Collins new photo overlays.  I love how this adds yet another element to look at on your layout and this one was perfect over my photo, especially as it repeats the star element.
If you haven't seen it yet, come in to find your own stash of this new collection - it's not just for weddings!

Design Team Wednesday - Now and Then with My Mind's Eye

Scrap Now and Then reveal in the wonders of your work! It's so easy to do both with this latest collection by My Mind's Eye! I picked up the "Mildred" collection to work with and created this layout to share with you. If you were at the Scrapdoodles retreat this past weekend, you might have had a sneak preview of this sitting on my desk!

Creating this layout was a tad different for me. First of all, that white space on the right hand side of the page is unusual for me. It is also not customary for me to do a page that isn't about the picture, especially when you have such a sassy little poser to write about!

Each of those flowers is fussy cut from a sheet of paper... they are not die cuts!! As quickly as the layout concept came together, the fussy cutting took a bit of time. It's difficult to appreciate in the pictures but a few of the smaller flowers are pop dotted and raised a tad higher for some depth and dimension to the layout.
I can't honestly say that those are the words out of the babes mouth, per se. I wanted to get the layout back up to the store for your viewing pleasures so I took an educated guess. When I asked her on Sunday night, I was pleasantly surprised to learn I wasn't far off!

If you're looking for this collection, be sure to visit the My Mind's Eye spinners towards the front of the store. There are still a lot of goodies up for grabs but it's going fast!

Design Team Wednesday - G45 Sweet Sentiments with Yvonne

Hello my Scrapdoodles Friends! I hope beautiful things are coming together in your crafty space! I am so excited to share with you today the latest project coming out of my crafty space!  On my last visit to Scrapdoodles I picked up some papers and chipboard pieces from the Sweet Sentiments collection by Graphic 45.
This particular collection blends the two themes of "love" and "spring" beautifully.  The combination offers a multitude of possibilities for an assortment of projects.  The pictures of cherubs, hearts, and butterflies are whimsical, colorful, and bright.... perfect for fussy cutting and layering.  As with all G45 collections, you are sure to create stunning handmade treasures!  Here is what I put together:
Well my friends, I hope you'll have a chance to visit the store soon! I promise you will fall in love with at least three "must have" items! There's always something new and exciting, so I really feel like I have to get there once a week, or I might miss something (gasp, gasp)!!!  Tragic, I know!!  But those of you who share my paper obsession... you know what I'm talking about, don't you???? Lol! Take care!
                                  Big scrappy hugs!!
Yvonne

Design Team Wednesday - Fun With Simple Stories

Hi Scrappy Friends!  It's Karen here for Design Team Wednesday, and it's my chance to show off a couple of layouts with some cute new lines just in from Simple Stories! My first layout is a fun girly layout using the mini collection, "Hey, Mom!" I loved this heart patterned sheet right away and chose to use it as my background.  I flanked this silly candid shot of my daughter and me by 2 3x4 cards from one of the 12x12 sheets.  These cards are great for cutting apart to use on layouts, Project Life/Albums Made Easy inserts, cards, and so much more. You can embellish them with extra elements or leave them as-is.  The only thing I did to mine was add some Glossy Accents over the heart in the cute pink canning jar.  Underneath my photo strip, I used some of the coordinating stickers - the colored chevrons, as well as their negative portion to give a little balance to the bottom left of my layout. I had quite a bit of journaling to add, so I ran a lightly colored strip down the side of the layout.  This line is perfect for mother-daughter layouts, mother's day layouts and cards, as well as spring and so many occasions!  This layout is a simple layout - great for scraplifting - for one or more photos and lots of journaling.  I hope you can use it as inspiration!

Another great new line from Simple Stories is called "A Simple Life."  The colors in this collection are awesome!  The navy blue really anchors the bright green and yellow.  I used the many coordinating elements to create a fun banner across the top of my page and really layered it up to support that single 4x4 inch photo.  I even dug around in my stash to find a bright green feather that added just the right amount of fun and texture to this layout.  The wood grain letter stickers in the title are also relatively new, they are made by Webster's Pages - part of the Sprinkled With Love collection - some more gorgeous papers to be found at the store!!!

I had a few pieces left over and put together this cute card in a snap.  That's another reason to love the collections from Simple Stories - cards and other projects come together so quickly!

I hope you've been inspired by these projects.  I recommend heading over to Scrapdoodles soon - very soon - to get your hands on some of these gorgeous and layout/card friendly collections from Simple Stories.
