NEW! Studio Calico Elementary!

You must check out the mid-century inspired scrapbook paper collection from Studio Calico. The colors in the papers are vibrant, yet still reminiscent of vintage schoolroom details, and the patterns? Well, the patterns are awesome!  And the patterned edge ledger papers (I’ve shown pink, but there’s a blue version, too) are a great idea for keeping track of baby milestones or school firsts.  There are also stickers, stamps, wood veneers, vintage dress pattern flowers (now you don't have to make them :), adorable baby bird rub-ons (in yellow, pink and blue, too) and Mists (that match their papers and don't shimmer).

Design Team Introduction: Michelle Woolwine

I live in Charles Town, WV with my husband and two children, Reid and Baylee. Cooper is our beloved Black Lab and family pet. I work part time as an occupational therapist for a private school in Leesburg, Virginia, serving children with autism.
I began scrapbooking nine years ago when my best friend Julie invited me to a weekend retreat in Williamsburg. Given my background in art and love for photography, it was an instant passion. I have been an employee for Scrapdoodles in the past, as well as a teacher. I am thrilled to be part of the design team and share my family, memories, and ideas with all of you.

Given that I live over two hours from Scrapdoodles, Cheryl was kind enough to select an amazing array of papers and accents to inspire my first design team “collection.” My first layout was created using paper from the We R Memory Keepers Out and About collection. Reid has always had a love of planes, trains, and automobiles so this was perfect paper to showcase these pictures. The adorable designs and dimension of these elements allowed me to bring out all the colors and imagination in his creations. I chose to embellish the cardstock stickers using brads and gave them a little extra “pop” with foam squares. (Click on photos to enlarge them.)

When Cheryl told me to check out the new collections from My Mind’s Eye, I instantly fell in love with the Alphabet Soup line. The colors and patterns went perfectly with black and white photos. I decided to play with pattern, shapes, and design with this layout. The mixture of colors and patterns really draw the eye to her picture. I chose to use the cardstock cut-outs to accentuate the papers and bring a girly touch to the layout.

I have always wanted to play around with the wooden design your own picture frames. I chose to use the polka dots from the Alphabet Soup collection to add a subtle girly feel to the frame. I embellished the wooden “Princess” title using glitter, rhinestones, and chipboard flowers from the collection. The edges of the frame and paper are inked with Chocolate ink to finish off the design.

Wedding and Travel Pages

Hi Scrapdoodles Fans! Karen here with a couple of projects to inspire you to get your summer photos scrapped. We have the privilege of hailing from the great state of Wisconsin and have just returned from a summer trip there visiting with family and friends - and attending a beautiful wedding. Whenever we go, there are a few places on our "must-see" list, so I decided to commemorate these faves in a scrapbook page. I remembered to snap a couple of photos at our two favorite fast food places (that aren't found here in VA) and found the perfect papers and embellishments at the store. I used Basic Grey "Wander" papers and fun die cut pieces and then happened upon this awesome blue and orange large die cut paper from We R Memory Keepers, which inspired the color scheme. I covered a stamp-shaped Maya Road piece of chipboard with paper to add a little dimension and used the embellishments as part of my title and to journal on. When looking at the wedding papers at the store, I was drawn to the beautiful selection of black and white papers. These papers from imaginisce are gorgeous. I also picked up a selection of chipboard pieces from teresa collins and kept the design fairly simple on this double-page layout. That's our daughter as the flower girl - isn't she cute! The flowers are also from imaginisce. As usual, I couldn't let my leftover pieces go to waste, so I made a quick card and embellished a small white gift bag I had sitting in the closet. We have another wedding to attend in October, so if you want to see these items in person, you better get to Scrapdoodles now before I snag them back to use for that wedding!
Happy Scrapping! Karen

Wow, this summer has flown by... and it's time to think about the upcoming holidays. Here are a couple of ideas using the new TENSeconds Studio molds. This is a layout using the Day of the Dead mold. I know what you are thinking "I would never use that." But, if you have halloween pictures... don't be so quick to judge. The shrine makes a perfect frame for your little witches or ghouls. And imagine a border of the little crosses with RIP on them, or the skulls all lined up.

Okay, now for Christmas. This is the perfect mold if you ask me. I love the snowflakes, which are so great for cutting out and using as embellishments. The other side has an amazing selection of holiday bits... love those topiaries, and the poinsettia, and the ornaments. You get the point. For the next layout I used Appletini, Poison Ivy, Peacock and Gold Nugget metals and a picture of me with my favorite aunt and uncle (circa 1973).

What about the other molds? I have some ideas for those, too. A mix of elements from the girl and boy molds.

Lastly, A picture of a sweet flower girl can be accented with flowers cut from the girly mold and layered over the poinsettia, totally different look. I'm working on a few more things and will post when they're done.
