Lauren is a self-taught Mixed Media Artist. She presently lives outside of Atlanta, Georgia. Originally from New Jersey, you can occasionally hear her saying \"Y\'all I need a cup of cau-fee\".
She entered the craft world after the birth of her first child. Memory Art, in particular scrapbooking, is where she developed her love for paper. Lauren was introduced to Altered Art and Collage Art very soon thereafter. Still longing to find her niche, she was drawn to the art of bookmaking. It was a natural fit.
Her books are full of earthy tones of color and texture. She creates art with her books. All the individual parts that are transformed into a book -- from the covers, to the stitching to the paper chosen to be signatures -- come together to sing a song. Each piece is chosen for the note and the harmony it brings to the music that is made. Lauren has realized her goal of achieving creative freedom and encourages others to find their own. After only a few short months, she realized that her artistic process opened her to a new level of expression.
After the birth of twin boys, Lauren decided to walk away from an academic career as an epidemiologist and balance her new found love of life as a Mother and an Artist. As an imaginative craft designer, her work appears in national magazines.
"There are no mistakes in ART, just opportunities to embellish."

We are thrilled that Jenni is coming to Scrapdoodles! We have only a couple spots left so if you are interested call now to register 540.548.3788!
Jenni Bowlin resides in Nashville, TN with her husband and two young sons. She is the owner and the creative force behind Jenni Bowlin Studio - a web-based company offering monthly papercrafting kits and inspiration and most recently an exclusive product line that can be found in Paper Arts stores across the country and on the web. Everything she creates has a vintage edge and a general "re-invention" theme. She is a published designer, having landed on the pages of Creating Keepsakes, Autumn Leaves Publications, Family Circle and Mary Engelbreit Home Companion. Jenni is also an accomplished teacher, offering classes at stores and conventions across the country. To see more of Jenni's work and products go to Jenni Bowlin and be sure to check out her BLOG
"Simply The Best. . ." - How would you finish that statement? Would your thoughts wander to your favorite desert? Your favorite music? Maybe your best vacation ever? Gather your photos and ideas and join me as we create a 4" Scalloped Mini Album using all of the latest and greatest Jenni Bowlin Studio products! You will learn new techniques (such as working with crepe paper and German Glass Glitter and altering pre-fab products). Best yet, you will have enough materials left over to make a layout or two later! Everything is provided. Just bring your basic tool box (trimmer, scissors, craft knife and mat, decorative scissors ((mini pinking shears in particular)) and various glues including a dry tape runner, glue dots and liquid glue or Glossy Accents.
Need some help on developing your theme? - keep it very generic, such as "simply the best. . . coffee (Starbucks)", "simply the best. . . music (Coldplay)", "simply the best. . . smile (my baby boy)", etc. Or go for a specific event or place. For example, my book is themed around our love of Disney World and each page represents "simply the best. . .ride, villain, princess, place to eat, show, park, etc.". The album is 4" x 4" so don't print out photos any larger then that (and you will want some much smaller). Here's the good news though. . . you don't have to have your photos to take the class (or even have decided on a theme)! The project is done in a way that makes it easy to add photos and journaling later.
Please bring your basic tools to class, including a craft knife and mat, liquid and dry adhesives (including Glossy Accents and Zip Dry Glue if you have it), 2 pairs of jewelry pliers to open jump rings and wire cutters (I will have some on hand to share). Also bring 26gauge silver jewelry wire if possible (again, I will have some to share). Bring a few photos if desired, sized around 2" (with a little cropping room).
