Design Team Wednesday... Pinkpaislee

I saw this Pinkpaislee line at Scrapdoodles and thought it was adorable.

The rich colors inspired me to use some of the fabic I

purchased at Mood in New York to create this layout. I used

Pinkpaislee Hope Chest Treasures paper.

I cut out the dress form using my Cameo. I made the flowers

by punching out several size circles and singeing them on

the ends with a candle. Make sure you don't get your fabric

too close to the flame or you can burn the material. I stacked

several circles on top of each other, punched a hole, and connected

them with a brad.

I was also inspired to make this card using Pinkpaislee Cottage Farms Barrel paper.

I cut out a 4 x 5.25 piece of paper with butterflies using my Cameo. If you

look closer at the picture, you can see I placed fabric under the negative butterflies.

This is just a small selection of the new line. Come down to Scrapdoodles

and check it out. The paper is gorgeous and there is alot more of this

line to choose from.

Copics are Michele's Favorite This Week!

My favorite product this time around is Copic Markers!   

I have loved to color since I was a little girl- the huge box of 64 crayons was always a favorite gift for me.   I loved all the colors and shading by pressing harder or softer when coloring.   As a grown up I still love to color but now I mostly use my Copics!

I fell in love with Copics (pronounced "cope-icks") when we first started carrying them - I love the huge variety of colors but more than that I love how easy they are to blend!   I feel like they made my coloring look much better than it really is.  

Coloring for me is a stress reliever and mostly just for fun - and while I have created cards with them mostly I just color in my personal Copic coloring book!    I made this book (using my WRMK Cinch) using Copic paper and a few printouts from the Internet.  

I keep a log of the color chart, color combos I like, and stamped images - some are mine, some are friends' stamps, some are samples from online.   I also have a sheet of acetate that is removable so I can place it behind whatever image I am working on so it doesn't bleed through.

I also happen to be one of the Copic teachers at the store - so I get to share my love of Copics and teach others how fun they are!!!!!

Design Team Wednesday - Simple Stories: Layouts and Treat Box Video Tutorial

We finally got hit with some warm weather here, so it was easy to think about camping and being outdoors.  Scrapdoodles is getting so many awesome new lines in, it's hard to decide which to choose.  I was immediately drawn to the earthy colors and distressed look of the Simple Stories "Take a Hike" line, though. We love the outdoors, and with all the great elements in the collection, it was easy to create 2 layouts in quick time.  I think that's another reason I really am drawn to pretty much everything Simple Stories is putting out right now.  Their collections are so fun and easy to use for regular layouts, Project Life style layouts, and projects of all sorts.
This first layout used the great wood texture background and the fun dot patterned accent at the bottom.  I just started layering some patterned paper, 3x4 cards, and several sticker elements in small clusters around my page.  Everything already coordinates beautifully.  For more texture, I used a nail file to rough up the edges of the brown "camping permit" paper and raised a few sticker elements with pop dots.  I also added a  couple of brads from my stash and punched out several small circles from some thin cork material I had.  I thought this continued the natural and rustic feel.

For my next layout, I treated some plain kraft cardstock with inks to "grunge" it up a bit.  I used a combination of spray ink (Mr. Huey's Classic Tan) and Distress Ink (Tim Holtz Walnut Stain).  To the right of my photo, I cut 4 squares from the wonderful patterned papers in the collection and rounded just 2 corners of each. Then, just as in the other layout, I started layering the paper and sticker elements in small clusters.  The bingo cards (LOVE them!) are part of most every Simple Stories collection and are so much fun to use.  

I guess I just couldn't stop layering and playing with this line, because I also made several treat boxes.  I started with a simple cardstock box and then embellished the front with bingo cards and stickers and a rustic string.  I thought I could fill them with trail mix and it would be a fun party treat, date night treat, or family outing treat.  You can get a good look at the layouts and boxes in the store now.
