Art Journaling Techniques

Release your inner artist and join us each month as we focus on a new technique/product. This class is filled with creative mediums and applications where you can challenge your creativity!

Please bring: Art Journal (if you have one), apron, craft mat, heat gun, paint brushes, water cup, gesso, light molding paste (if you have it), favorite paints & stencils. I always bring a variety of paints and sprays to use in class.

Design Team Wednesday by Tiffany

Good Morning All,

   I wanted to share some of my creations this week. My first design is a layout. I was so excited to use Jillibean Soup because the papers are so versatile.  You can intermingle the lines because they all match in one way or another.  I used border punches to create my own lace on the paper.  I chose the  paper to highlight a picture of my Chloe Baby when she was only a few weeks old, but the paper could be used for school days, family, girls, and spring. Wherever your creativity takes you!!! 

  My next design is with Fancy Pants's "Winterland" and Maya Road's Acrylic Mitten Album.  When I saw the paper line I knew I had to use the mitten album. They went perfect together!!!  Don't be intimated by using acrylic.  It is really easy to use. There are so many things you can do to acrylic.....stamp on it, use glitter glue, paint on it, use rub-ons, and stickers.  the possibilities are endless. So get to creating!!!!

  Finally, my last design are cards.  I used all my scraps to create the cards.  I try to create cards as I finish up a project so I use all the scraps I have.  This way I am not storing them, taking up precious storage room or forgetting about them.  Now I have cards for when I need them and don't have to rush to make one at the last minute.  How is that for being efficient and organized?!

I hope I have inspired you all to create and try a few new things.  The projects will be on display at the store.  If you have any questions about the products one of the Scrapdoodles Girls will be able to help you.

Vintage Fun

For my design team pages this time I decided to use some of my vintage photos. I have a stash of old photos that I've picked up at antique stores that I always "save" for a cool project.I bit the bullet and decided to use a couple of them in two layouts.I had to use one layout with my beautiful daughters.In all of these pages I used the new My Mind's eye line,Prima flowers galore,accessories from the Vintage Vogue line by Pink Paislee,& ribbon accessories from the Stella Rose line.I love stickles so in each page there is some glitz,& also glossy accents.On one of the pages I used my white Gelly roll pen to do a little tracing over the design to create the look of doodling in the background.In the two pages where I used the vintage photos I wanted to show that it can be just as much fun to play with vintage ephemera in creating layouts as it is using family photos.Breaking away from the norm can be fun. It's all about having fun and letting your creative side out.

Claudine Hellmuth coming to Scrapdoodles!

We are thrilled to announce that Claudine Hellmuth is coming to Scrapdoodles to teach an all day workshop using her Studio line of products from Ranger Inks.

Claudine Hellmuth is a nationally recognized collage artist, author and illustrator. She combines photos, paint, paper and pen into quirky, whimsical-retro collages that she calls Poppets®


Her artworks have been featured on The Martha Stewart Show, in Mary Engelbreit's Home Companion magazine, The New York Times, on HGTV's "I Want That!" and on the DIY Network's program, "Craft Lab."

In addition to creating her artwork full-time, Claudine has developed a product line with Ranger Inc. under the brand name of "Claudine Hellmuth Studio", teaches collage workshops in the US & Canada, and she has written 3 books and 3 DVDs about her techniques.

Originally from Orlando FL, Claudine now lives in Washington DC with her husband Paul and their very spoiled cats - Mabel & Stanley.

Ranger & Maya Rd. in stock and on the floor!

Maya Rd. Summer CHA Release is here with their new Acrylic and Chipboard release as well as their new Maya Mists. These sprays are a lot like Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, except that it's a bit more concentrated. This comes in really handy when spraying chipboard. Instead of spending lots of time covering your chipboard with paper, try spraying it with Maya Mist. You'll be amazed at how NICE it covers your surface and how FAST you can spray an entire album!
