Design Team Wednesday- RSVP BasicGrey Layouts with Sue

HOORAY for RSVP

RSVP by BasicGrey

a cutie pie & a couple of layouts to celebrate
by Sue Woolard

                         Celebrate with RSVP.
This colorful line is a great way to capture a birthday celebration for any age or gender. It just makes you happy when you mix up all the cheerful and bright papers and cool embellishments.

For DTW (Design Team Wednesday), I have strayed from my usual mini album and mixed it up with two different layouts. If you like the idea of creating 12x12 layouts with lots of leftover embellishments to make additional cards, a mini album or layout- for around $20- this project is for you.

This page uses a bunch of different textures including wood, transparencies, stickers and die cuts. Since they were short words, it was a great time to use up some leftover letter stickers. These are Bella Blvd. sticker letters with glossy accents.

This little scallop element at the bottom was actually part of the bar code strip that was "fussy cut". It never hurts to turn a little trash into treasure.

When I opened the BasicGrey die cut/transparency pack, the transparencies made me squeal with excitement they were so colorful. Using them on a white background made them "pop" off the page.

This page shows simple layering of the festive papers in this line.

Add some glossy accents to the party hat and they pop even more.

To make the balloons float off the wood element, foam tape was used.

Both of these layouts were created without many tools- just scissors and a trimmer. Stop by the store to check out RSVP by BasicGrey in person, or to see the layouts up close.

Hopefully you enjoy these quick, simple and cost effective layouts. An adorable little girl and bright and happy RSVP line is a great way to cheer up your day.

Design Team Wednesday: Basic Grey Persimmon with Suzanna

Suzanna here to share with you today! With Fall right around the corner, what better way to show off your Halloween and Thanksgiving pictures than with Basic Grey's Persimmon collection?! This is my all time favorite Fall collection, I just love the non-traditional color palate and the patterns. The navy blue with the persimmon orange-y red are just perfect together!! I have two layouts to share with you; a 12x12 and an 8.5x11. One Halloween and one Thanksgiving.

First up, Halloween! After all, it is the first of the two holiday's to occur. One of the many fantastic things about Basic Grey these days are the waterfall packs; you get a little bit of everything! A few die cuts, some journaling spots of two different sizes (also perfect for Project Life!) and some letter stickers. This line has a matching waterfall pack that is the perfect compliment to the collection kit.

Boo! Don't be frightened by this little fellow peeking out from an Ikat layer!

Though the patterns from the Persimmon collection are very different, they are the perfect compliment for layering on your project.

I have this "thing" lately for using large pictures. That place setting card and the turkey die cut from the waterfall pack are the perfect embellishments for our Thanksgiving dinner. Between those embellies and the large picture, don't you feel like you're there, in the dining room with us?

The collection pack comes with letter stickers. I can't say I'm the biggest fan of the circle stickers... I always end up cutting them down and creating something better suited to my needs. So don't go looking for the navy blue rectangular letter stickers, there aren't any. The fussy cut triangle "bits" found at the top of this layout are remnants of the border strip at the bottom of the page. The various complimentary color mists and Distress paint splats add just the right touch of color to the white space at the top of this layout.

Be sure to stock up on Basic Grey's Persimmon at Scrapdoodles today! I guarantee you, there won't be much left, it's a hot ticket item! Think of the possibilities for Halloween pictures with older children who don't want all those cutesy ghosts and trick or treater's on their layouts! Timeless Thanksgiving greetings. I even think this collection would make amazing masculine cards... Hmmm... Off to explore some more possibilities!

Design Team Wednesday - We R Memory Keepers with Suzanna

One of the latest CHA releases by We R Memory Keepers is the Chalkboard line. In keeping with the chalkboard trend, they really did an amazing job with the design and coordinating colors. I have a couple of projects to share with you today using this collection.

First up, I have a gift box to share with you. I was fortunate to see the demonstration of this awesome new gift box punch board in action while in Vegas for CHA. I was even more fortunate to have it personally demonstrated for me using this very piece of the Chalkboard line for me to bring home and use for my blog post today!!

Once finished, the box is simple to decorate with the coordinating papers and embellishments from the Chalkboard collection. A few cuts from your Silhouette to make the bow and a stunning gift box is ready for your next gift giving surprise!

Two little slits through the heart for the lollipop stick, AKA arrow, make an adorable embellishment for added pizzaz.

Have some of those Project Life cards but don't know what else to do with them? Use them on a layout! They don't have to be used exclusively for the PL page protectors. Break out of the box (ha ha!) and find another use for them as I did on this 8.5x11 layout!

I used two of the 4x3 cards and a larger 4x6 card on this layout. A 12x12 sheet trimmed to size for the background and some stickers and doodling make a simple yet detailed layout. See the white tag behind the picture? The heart on my box came from inside that! Love when you can use things more than once and for multiple purposes!
Personalize the cards and make them your own. I wanted the teal journal card to stand out a bit so I used my pen to add black dots all the way around the inside of the scallop. Makes a big difference, don't you think?
A simple button and thread to tie things off!

The Chalkboard collection by We R Memory Keepers is a must have chalk collection! Be sure to stop by Scrapdoodles and grab some before the shelves are bare! Watch out for the new punch boards by WRMK, they should be arriving any day now!! Thanks for stopping by the blog and be sure to stop in the store and check out all the stunning product arriving daily from Create n Connect (AKA CHA)!!

Some layouts and cards featuring LYB's Just Because line

Love is in the air.....Valentine's Day is only one day away and I hope this post will ignite your creativity and inspire you to scrapbook your loved ones.

As soon as I saw the Little Yellow Bicycle "Just Because" line, I fell in love with it. The colors, patterns, accents, everything about it! My first layout is of my son Reid, I have always loved this picture and the colors in his pajamas are a perfect match for this line. I incorporated the patterned paper and vellum tape from the collection. I also added Maya Road acrylic accents, covering the word "love" and the arrow in patterned paper. I stitched around the edges using a black American Crafts pen. The word "you" was created using Martha Stewart's Swiss Dot Alphabet, a clearance find at Scrapdoodles! I mounted them on red cardstock to make them stand out a bit more.

My second layout is of my daughter Baylee. I hadn't originally planned to use a beach photo, but the essence of her spirit was so perfectly captured in this picture and was a match for the quote on the patterned paper. I again incorporated the Little Yellow Bicycle "Just Because" line, though these papers have a completely different look from the first layout. This line is so versatile! I again used Maya Road acrylic accents, covering the heart in patterned paper and embellishing with a flower from my supplies. The ribbon adds the perfect amount of sparkle!

My last two projects were created using the scraps remaining from my layouts. First, a card using vellum words from the collection, and second, a magnet created using the Maya Road acrylic accent. I attached a self-adhesive magnet to the back of the acrylic shape after covering and embellishing it.

Happy Valentine's Day to you all and make sure you stop by the store to pick up this adorable collection and stock up on Maya Road acrylic and chipboard accents!
