We've gotten so many fun new things over the last week!  Everything is on the floor and ready to shop with the exception of Teresa Collins new line- the girls are working on it right now!  Here's what's new this week:

Clean & Simple Cards With Dawn

It's time for another card class!  I have been a busy girl, but I finally got my cards done for May's class.  This month we will be using embossing folders, gelato's, masks and dylusions sprays.  I couldn't help myself, I had to use a couple of butterflies too!!  Wednesday's class is filling up, so call the store at 540 548 3788 to sign up for either Wednesday or Saturday's class.

Employee Product Of The Week

Good morning, it's Dawn here and it is my turn for product of the week.  This week I wanted to talk about Distress Inks and the Ink Blending Tool both by Ranger.  Distress inks are acid free, non-toxic, fade resistant, water-based dye inks.  They come in a wide variety of gorgeous colors, including lots of neutrals.  They were designed by Tim Holtz and work with many of his other products.  One of the cool things about distress inks is that they are reactive with water, which makes them very versatile.  You can also layer the colors on top of each other to add depth.  They are great for a wide variety of styles like, grunge, vintage and even clean and simple and are also great for stamping with.  You can use them on your scrapbook pages, art journaling, altered projects and even cards.  The ink blending tool makes it so easy to apply color and super easy to blend effortlessly.  Today I have 2 examples to show you.  The first is a clean and simple card that I made and the other is a more distressed looking tag.  Stop by the store and pick up some distress ink pads of your own.  You won't be disappointed.

Design Team Wednesday: Invitation Ideas with Karen, Echo Park, and SRM Stickers

Need some cute and quick invitation ideas?  SRM Stickers has lots of fun solutions.  I picked up two sets of "We've Got Your Invite" and "We've Got Your Border" stickers from Scrapdoodles to play with and show you how easy it is to put together invitations.  Handmade invites are awesome, but making 30 or 50 or 100 is a lot of work, so it's best to keep your overall design simple.  For these baby shower invites I used the girl invite and border stickers from SRM. Begin with a couple of layers for your card base - this dresses up your invite, but it's easy to cut and layer.  (My formula = A2 base + grey/brown/black + color + white.)
For each card, I used a circle punch and a circle SRM sticker (use a pop dot to add dimension) and then added a cluster of SRM border strip pieces and a cute twine (the Twinery) bow and baby pin (from my stash).  SRM sticker sheets also include a block for filling in all your invitation information, so even the insides get handmade goodness.  I like that I can vary the main accent color (pink, yellow, green), so even though all my invites are not exactly the same, the overall design is, so it makes it easy to pull coordinating cardstock and use my supplies wisely.  For party favors, consider using a clear tube (several sizes to choose from) and applying a few cute coordinating stickers before filling it with candies.  For my tube, I also added a mini twine pom pom and a twine string with thank you banner on the lid.  I think it's super cute! And it was super easy!

The invitation stickers can also be used on a coordinating layout to commemorate the shower once it's over. If you're making the invites, you could complete the layout ahead of time and give it to the guest of honor to add photos to.  This layout uses some of the cute new paper from Echo Park's "Bundle of Joy" line.  That's also available at the store and both the boy and girl lines are super-adorable!  I love the journaling cards that coordinate.  In this layout, I used one of the cards as the title block and the other I slipped into a glassine bag (these are so fun!), tied with more Twinery twine.

Don't have a baby shower coming up?  Here's the same idea, but with a Birthday theme!  I began with the SRM Invite and Border stickers.  This first card uses the same basic formula as the baby shower invites.  I also added a couple of pennants (the sticks are toothpicks wrapped in Washi tape!).  The large tube is topped with a big pom pom and I've added some SRM stickers and twine to it, too.

This last invite uses the glassine bag as an envelope and the SRM stickers.  Again, I love how these invite and border stickers can be used to create different looks that make invites quick and easy!  Just find some coordinating papers (mine are from Echo Park's "Happy Days" line) and you are set for an awesome, handmade party.

What's new!

Hi There!

I thought I'd pop on and share some fun new goodies we've gotten in over the last week!  We've been busy getting it out on the floor and all of these products are ready to shop!

Lori Loves We R Memory Keepers Page Protectors

Hey there scrappers, Lori here with the Product of the Week. But, before I tell you what it is I want to ask you a few questions:

Are you like me and take 100+ pictures of 1 event and then wonder what to do with all those photo gems that you just can't delete?

Do you have pictures of birthday parties with weird colors that make it really hard to pull together a cohesive look?

Is the idea of scrapbooking so overwhelming that you feel stuck?

Are you a fan of the Scrapdoodles Hump Day layouts ( I AM) but want a 2 page spread instead of 1?

Did you answer "Yes, yes, yes" to any of these questions? Then this weeks product is for you. It is a workhorse that can make scrapbooking even the biggest mountains of photos quicker and easier. Do you know what it is yet?

Divided Page Protectors. These are so popular for good reason. They come in all varieties and configurations, if you have lots of horizontal 4*6 photos, great, if you have verticals, they make those too. Right now in Scrapdoodles we have at least 10 different types of divided page protectors.

Sometimes there are just too many good photos to traditionally scrapbook all of them. I will take my favorite photo or two and make a really nice 1 page layout and then next to it I will put in a divided page protector or two and put my photos in the sleeves.

Maybe you don't want to do traditional scrapbooking, you don't have the time but want something more than a photo album, great these will work for you too. Put the photos in the sleeves except leave 1 sleeve for a nice title or a sticker embellishment.

The possibilities are endless and easy. Come by the store and pick up a pack to try. I'm sure you will love them as much as I do.
