ScrapPink!

We had a blast at ScrapPink! Two days of cropping, lot's of good food and terrific company! Everyone went home with a prize or two, too!

We truly enjoyed Kathleen Reid's visit, she is an incredibly talented and sweet woman. Many of her books flew out the door and I've heard from several people already how much they have enjoyed reading her book! We have a handful of books left for purchase that Kathleen graciously signed.

Kathleen with Michelle & Julie. We were so excited to see Michelle (and Julie of course!), Michelle drove in from West Virginia for the event.

Thank you all for the many wonderful auction items. $406 was raised just from the auction alone and will be donated to ScrapPink.
Rappaport Leasing allowed us to hold our event in the empty space next to our store which allowed us to spread out and have more croppers!

Mmm, mmm, we had a lot of yummy food.
Cindy was a little hungry....

Me and Laurie.
Monique made it after a long day at work. We were so happy to see her! It's not ScrapPink with out Mo!
My two donut buddies ;-)
Virginia and Kelley ~ thank you for bringing the extra tables!
The Scrap Pack Buddies ~ Kristen and Camisha (wish you were here, too, Sarah!)
Many more photos and lot's of great moments were had by all.

What's New...

American Crafts is on the floor! We really shuffled to get it out before ScrapPink! The new cardstock packs are a big hit, so are the new rub-ons, thickers, stickers, ribbons, patterned paper and more! We've also restocked our page protectors and albums.

Fancy Pants!!! Entire collections of "All Fall", "The Daily Grind", and "Happy Holidays" will be on the floor tomorrow. Lot's of boxes to unpack and we got a little behind since we were busy with ScrapPink which was a blast and a fantastic success! I will post more on ScrapPink tomorrow. Pictures & details! Loved our visit with Kathleen Reid, not only a talented author but also a talented scrapbooker, designer and an incredibly sweet person!

The new glitter cuts are amazing!

Kathleen Reid, Local Author

Kathleen Reid, local author, will be attending a book signing at Scrapdoodles on Saturday, September 26 at 2:30pm. She will be at ScrapPink at 1pm.

A PAGE OUT OF LIFE
"Written with humor and grace,”* Kathleen Reid’s Paris Match caught readers’ attention. Now she returns with the intertwining lives of the women of Belloix, Alabama’s scrapbooking club—a novel full of “the twists and turns that keep readers turning pages. . ."**

Buy "A Page Out of Life" at Scrapdoodles

When frazzled mother of four Ashley Gates lets her best friend drag her to a meeting of the local scrapbook club, she’s amazed at the way old photos and mementos can bring vivid color to sepia-toned memories. Among the surprisingly diverse group is Tara, a single grad student whose search for love, like her relationship with her absentee father, has only brought her heartache—and some funny dating stories. Then there’s Libby, a semi-retired teacher who thought she’d spend her golden years taking cooking and photography classes—not as a town pariah after her son is charged in a corporate scandal. And as Ashley copes with a husband whose love for her fluctuates with her weight, she comes to depend more and more on her scrapbooking sisters. For only together can they face earth-shattering revelations and emotionally unavailable men—and figure out their futures while artfully commemorating their pasts.

Praise for the novels of Kathleen Reid
“Stellar.”—Adriana Trigiani
“Fast-paced, engaging.”— Richmond Times Dispatch

ScrapPink last minute reminders!

We checked out the space next door today, it's nice and spacious. You will have plenty of room to move around and sit with your friends! If you are bringing any electronics that need to be plugged in to an electrical outlet, be sure to bring an extension cord and power strip. There are only a few outlets on the outside walls. Also, since we are borrowing chairs, I recommend you bring cushions for your tender behinds. We have 21 hours of cropping ahead of us!!!

Scrapdoodles is a Certified Silhouette Store!

I just completed a 10 part Silhouette Certification we are qualified to provide product demonstrations and answer additional questions regarding the Silhouette Digital Craft Cutter. I will be teaching a Silhouette Class this Thursday night at 7pm. Please call the store at 540.548.3788 to register.

The Silhouette can do so much more than I anticipated. We will have to offer a couple different classes to teach everything there is to know about the Silhouette. If you have the Silhouette, you will have noticed that there are several different tools available that are not really explained in your Basic Guide that comes with your tool. This is just some of the information that will begin to cover in the class (ie. spline, polyline, TTF, welding).

I have had several people ask me recently about the difference between the QuicKutz Silhouette and the Cricket, the main difference is that the Cricket is cartridge based. You MUST have a cartridge to use your Cricket and that will limit your fonts and shapes. The Silhouette is used with a lap top or desk top and therefore can use your computer software to create unlimited shapes and fonts. You can use any true type font and download unlimited shapes. You also have the option of purchasing individual shapes from QuicKutz.

I am usually at the store Monday through Friday Open to 3:30pm if you have any questions or you can email me and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Good night!

Rock Paper Trimmer!

Rock, Paper, Trimmer
Fiskars has a rockin' new tool, and it's called the Rock, Paper, Trimmer. This is a trimmer like no other- speakers for your MP3 player are built right into it! We took one of these new trimmers and passed it around to some of the fiskars design team to see what they could make using this trimmer. Fiskars 45mm rotary blades (that work in other 45mm trimmers and rotary fabric cutters) work in this trimmer, just another great feature it has to offer. Some other wonderful things about the trimmer's features are-

Music related features:* Universal connector plug fits into any headphone jack – allows you to play music from any portable music player (MP3, CD, Tape) or even laptop computer* Built-in speakers powered by your MP3 player – no need for batteries or outlets* Softgrip cradle for MP3 player – protects and holds your MP3 player while trimming

Cutting related features:* Softgrip blade carriage – comfortable right or left handed use* Paper grip under the guide rail keeps paper from moving while trimming – fewer mistakes in cutting* Replaceable 4-sided cutting strip – protects blades and prolongs sharpness* 45mm rotary blade format – several different decorative blades are available for unique cutting edge designs
Base Deck/Measuring Surface features:* Bold common card and photo sizes called out on the measuring surface – helps you quickly measure and cut to the proper dimensions* Peel off plastic film – protects the measuring surface* Carrying handle – easy to transport
Now let's see how the design team rocked the projects!!!
